There are three main types of high efficiency (condensing) forced air furnaces:

♦ One step up furnaces have two stage heating. This is the main difference. It allows the furnace to heat the rooms of the house more evenly.
♦ Top of the line furnaces too have two or more stages of heating. Also they have the variable speed blower motor. It is also called DC motor or ECM motor.
