HOW DO I KNOW IF I’M GETTING THE BEST PRICE?

With Cozy  World Inc., you’re getting the satisfaction of a job done right the first time, every time — at a competitive price.
CAN I GET TAX CREDITS AND REBATES WITH A NEW FURNACE?
Yes. Depending on the system you can get hundreds of dollars back in rebates and or tax deductions.

HOW LONG DOES FURNACE INSTALL TAKE?

It depends on how many units need to be installed. Typically, each unit takes between 4-6 hours, so 2 units can be installed in one day. In most cases, we can install up to 3 units, same day.

WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR IN AN HVAC COMPANY?

First of all, look for a long track record with plenty of good reviews on Google Reviews and Homestars. Additionally, they should have a clean history with the BBB. To get a bit more technical, the company you choose must have TSSA and HRAI registrations, HST, a City of Toronto License, $2 million in insurance and WSIB registration. In addition, all techs must have both gas and air conditioning licenses. CozyWorld checks all these boxes, and we can’t wait to speak with you!

Furnace / Heating

WHAT IS A SINGLE-STAGE FURNACE?

They have a single operation stage, either on or off. Because of this they’re a bit noisy and always run at maximum speed.

WHAT IS A MODULATING FURNACE?

They continuously regulate the amount of heat being released and the velocity of the air. They give you better control, are quiet, and reduce monthly heating costs.

WHAT SHOULD I CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING A NEW FURNACE?

The brand – research brand reviews and ask your furnace installation contractor. Features – which features are most important? Efficiency, noise, etc. Location – Space and location of your new furnace is a cost factor for installations.  Furnace contractor – research contractors, speak with them in person or over the phone. Make sure they can answer all of your questions and offer a free in-home consultation.

WHAT IS A TWO-STAGE FURNACE?

They have two operation stages, full speed, and half speed. They are quieter and more efficient than single-stage furnaces.

WHAT IS A HIGH-EFFICIENCY FURNACE?

Furnaces made today are much more efficient than furnaces made only ten years ago. They’re simply built better and with new technology. They now have electronic ignitions for more reliability and energy efficiency. They’re multi-stage and modulating for more efficiency and quitter function. They’re much safer.

Air ConditionER

WHAT SIZE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM DO I NEED?

Systems that are too large cool your house quickly, but may not feel comfortable. They leave to much humidity in the air, and the frequent cycling (too many starts and stops) shortens the life of your equipment. A system that is too small simply can’t cool your house enough. Many factors go into determining the correct size. Type of home and walls, type and size of windows, insulation, basement and attic conditions, house orientation, etc. An in-home consultation by an experienced HVAC tech is the best way to get the right system for your home.

WHAT IS A SPLIT-SYSTEM CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONER?

Split systems have two separate cabinets. One is located outside the house in a metal cabinet and houses the condenser and compressor. The second cabinet is on the inside of the house and contains the evaporator. These systems are great if you have a furnace, but no air conditioner.

WHAT IS CENTRAL AIR?

Central air conditioners are the most commonly used cooling systems. They take cool air and circulate it through a system of supply ducts return registers. The ducts and registers are found in walls, floors, and ceilings throughout a home. A benefit of central air systems is they help dehumidify the air.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT AC HVAC CONTRACTOR?

First thing you should do is check out their reviews. If they have 50+ positive reviews on Google, that’s a great start. The second step is asking about their experience in the industry and what their pricing and warranties are like. If they have upfront pricing, years of experience, and good warranties chances are you’re in good hands.

Tankless Water Heater

WHAT IS A TANKLESS WATER HEATER?

Also known as “on-demand water heaters” tankless water heaters heat water only when it’s needed. This eliminates the need for a storage tank and energy losses of constantly re-heating a large tank of water. They have a typical lifespan of 20 years and also eliminate the risk of massive tank leaks and water damage.

HOW DO TANKLESS WATER HEATERS SAVE MONEY?

For starters, a tankless water heater has twice the lifespan of a traditional water heater. The significant savings come from energy. They do not heat the water until you ask them to. A conventional tank water heater is keeping water hot all day long. By the end of the year, this results in hundreds of dollars in savings.

WHICH TANKLESS WATER HEATER IS BEST?

Before you buy an on-demand water heater you need to consider the size, fuel type, energy efficiency, and cost of installation. If you have a larger home installing multiple tankless water heaters in strategic zones can increase energy efficiency and allow you to use hot water for various purposes simultaneously.

HOW DO TANKLESS WATER HEATERS WORK?

When you turn on the hot water tap, cold water is drawn through a pipe into the tankless heater unit and heated by either an electric heating element or gas burner. Unlike traditional tanks, the hot water never runs out.

IF A TANKLESS WATER HEATER DOESN’T HOLD WATER, HOW DOES IT MAKE HOT WATER?

The tankless water heater heats water as it flows through the tubing in the heat exchanger inside the heater. When you turn on the tap or shower, a sensor detects water flow and turns on the burner which heats the water.

Furnace Humidifier

WHAT IS A FURNACE HUMIDIFIER?

Also known as “whole house humidifiers,” “central air humidifiers,” and “bypass humidifiers,” a furnace humidifier provides and regulates humidity for the whole house. They combat the negative effects of dry air on your health and furniture by providing the ideal indoor humidity during the driest times of the year.

HOW DO POWER HUMIDIFIERS WORK?

A power humidifier is installed on the ductwork above your furnace.  It does not need a bypass as it uses warm air from above the furnace and returns it with added moisture. Power humidifiers are capable of delivering more moisture into your house than a bypass humidifier. A built-in fan allows the unit to circulate humidified air, even when your heating system is not on.

WHAT ARE THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF LOW HUMIDITY?

When the humidity in your home is too low, it can cause health issues. Bloody noses, increased static electricity, dry skin and eyes, scratchy throat and nose, and respiratory problems. Low humidity also affects your body temperature creating a cold feeling even when the thermostat is set high. Additionally, low humidity causes wood floors and furniture to shrink, separate, and warp. Wallpaper may peel around the edges and loosen.

HOW DO BYPASS HUMIDIFIERS WORK?

A whole-home humidifier is installed on your furnace.  It adds moisture to your home’s air and works with the heating system to circulate humidity throughout your home. Because they’re installed on the furnace, they’re able to more effectively maintain your entire home’s humidity than portable humidifiers.

WHY DO I HAVE LOW MOISTURE IN MY HOUSE?

Low moisture, or low humidity, is a byproduct of your local environment and ventilation in your home.

WON’T THE HUMIDITY CAUSE MOLD?

No. Mold is the result of too much humidity. A whole-home humidifier regulates your home’s humidity to the ideal humidity levels and shuts off once the ideal level is reached.

WHICH KIND OF FURNACE HUMIDIFIER DO I NEED?

You do have several options when it comes to choosing a whole-home humidifier. The best thing to do is to get a free consultation from an experienced HVAC company that understands furnace humidifiers.
