Enbridge Introduces Connection Charges
Effective September 2008 Enbridge introduced Connection Charges to some of the new customers who is converting from other fuels to natural gas.
New customers, whose annual gas consumption is expected to be less than1,000 m³, will be required to pay one time Connection Charges. According to Contribution Schedule Charges will be anywhere from $50 to $1150.
If gas will be your main source of heat in the house, like a gas furnace or a gas boiler, you have nothing to worry about. A pool heater also consumes enough gas to avoid charges.
On the other side, to bring gas service for BBQ only will cost you $1,080 in Contribution Charges. The same applies to a kitchen stove and patio heater.
Conversion customers considering natural gas who fall below 1,000 m³ threshold will be required to either increase their gas load with another natural gas appliances or pay the Connection Charges.
