A high efficiency furnace and an air conditioner became much more affordable in Ontatio in April of 2009. On average, grants to home owners for heating and cooling systems in Ontario has gone up by 25%. Add to that just introduced 15% income tax credit.

If the old furnace is not a high efficiency one, the owner can get up to $1580 in Grants. An old high efficiency furnace can fetch up to $1300 in Grants. Add to that $100 rebate from Enbridge and $125 for ECM motor, and the numbers go to $1805 and $1525 accordingly.

Increase in Heating and Cooling Grants Rebates

Heating and Cooling Grants in Ontario Go Up by 25% from March 30, 2009

An Energy Star 14.5 SEER air conditioner gets $500 in Federal and Provincial Grants plus $250 rebate from OPA to the total of $750. Air conditioners with 15 SEER and higher rating get the same $500 of Grants plus $400 rebate from OPA.

A condensing tankless water heater gets the grand total of $1050 in Grants and Rebates.

Central heat pumps with 14.5 SEER rating get the grand total of $1250 in Grants and Rebates. A heat pump with 15 SEER rating gets the total of $1500 fetches $1500 in Rebates.
