As a rule, ecoENERGY pre-retrofit evaluation must be done prior to furnace replacing. However, in emergency no-heat cases the furnace can be replaced before evaluation. It is Eefective October 15, 2009 until March 30, 2010. Eligibility Criteria ♦ The furnace must have been Red Tagged by a qualified person - the gas company or service contractor or building inspector ♦ The furnace cannot be repaired and must be replaced How to Proceed The property owner must an Energy Advisor within five (5) calendar days of the furnace replacement to schedule a pre-retrofit assessment, and the assessment must take place within 30 days of the new heating system installation.
The energy advisor will need the following information from the old furnace: ♦ Fuel type -natural gas ♦ Type of system - forced air ♦ Type of venting - chimney or side vent ♦ Make and model number ♦ Rated efficiency, output, input from the nameplate There is an important change from the last 2008 season. This year at the time of emergency furnace replacement we can also replace the air conditioner. The old unit information to be kept is Capacity, Make, Model and Efficiency.
