ecoEnergy Retrofit Program Cancelled
No New Applications Is Accepted
The Federal Government abruptly cancelled the ecoEnergy Retrofit for Homes program as of midnight March 31, 2010. Anyone who had not had a pre-evaluation audit booked cannot take part in the program.
Everybody in HVAC industry was expecting the ecoEnergy program to wind down gradually. I appears that the abrupt end of the Federal support for the ecoEnergy was a surprise even for the Provincial Government.
The Federal money were providing a half of the funding. The other half was provided by the Provincial Government. At this point (April 1, 2010) there is no information on the Provincial Government funding.
OPA rebates (Cool Savings Rebate) remain the same for now. They are $125 for the furnace with ECM (brushless, variable speed) motor and $250-$400 for the air conditioner.
