This triple zone ductless (mini split) heat pump heats and cools a two apartment building. The unit provides cool and most of the heat for the house. The house has the on the main floor apartment and the other apartment upstairs. Radiant heaters are used for heating, but the house had no cooling. The boiler, though fairly new, failed seven times last winter. Fed up owner decided to install a ductless heat pump to solve both heating and cooling problems. The choice fell on Mitsubishi unit. Mr Slim line of ductless heat pumps and air conditioners is the most respected product on the market. When installed by a Factory trained technician, it comes with the best warranty on the market - 6 years for the entire unit - bumper to bumper.
Normally we install ductless units approximately 7 feet above the ground. It leaves enough space for people and cars to pass under and does not complicate service access to the heat pump in the future. This time the neighbours - they share the driveway - decided to go higher - to 13 feet. It would allow bigger trucks to use the driveway. To get that high with the heat pump we had to bring a lifter to the site. On the left picture you can see a technician preparing the heat pump for the installation. The picture on the right is showing the unit is already on the brackets, but the lifter is still there. A technician on the ladder is working on the unit.

Dad and mom too liked the heat pump, but they were too busy to pose for the picture. In this bedroom we put the ductless unit in the corner of the room right against the door. It has enough capacity to heat and cool the bedroom and then to spill some through the door into the hallway.
each of the apartments. One unit 9,000 BTU went to a bedroom. Apparently this cute dog does not mind warm breeze coming from the heat pump. And why would he when it is minus 2°C outside?
This part of the ductless heat pump upstairs is waiting for the tenants to move in. They will like its quiet heat and cool. At -2°C outside the heat pump is providing enough heat to keep the boiler off.
